The origin of Lüttenort is a retired railway wagon of the Berlin S-Bahn. Purchased in 1933 by Otto Niemeyer Holstein, the wagon was haulted to Lüttenort with great effort. The wagon became accommodation for Otto Niemeyer-Holstein and his family during the summer months. From 1937 on the wagon, enclosed and extended in several stages, became the connecting piece of the two houses and now links the living area with the garden. This results in a seamless transition from indoors to outdoors.
